Karaoke

This was my first time in a Norrybang which is literally singing room or as we Brits (and Japanese) like to call Karaoke...
... it is similar to the British version except for the instruments which you are allowed to bring and are supplied by the bar...
... virtually every bar has a seperate singing room and everyone is expected to have a go...
... one of the things I found funny is that it is controlled by a remote control available on every desk and that all the words are behind you so you either...
... face your back to the audience or sing a song that you know....
... everyone is expected to have a go and there are little (in fact usually no) gaps inbetween songs...
... the best bet is to keep it lively and dance away at the same time....
... the cheap alcohol helps a lot with this....
... all the bottles are shared rather than being bought indivisually or you can usually get a pitcher of various sizes. This would need to be shared out...
... making sure no one ever has an empty glass. Always pour with the right hand....
... and serve the oldest male first. But the main thing I learned about drinking with Koreans...
... is that they love participation....
and they love air guitar!
